Visa/Entry Process of Bhutan

 

Valid passports and an entry visa are essential except Indian & Bangladeshi National. Travelers to Bhutan are permitted only as a member of a commercially organized tour group. This can be done directly or through a travel agent abroad. Visa clearances are issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Thimpu and must be obtained before departing for Bhutan. At your port of entry your visa will be stamped in your passport on payment of US$ 20, you will also require two passport photos. Extension of visas, for up to 6 months, can be obtained in Thimpu at a cost of Nu. 510. NOTE: Visas cannot be obtained at Bhutanese embassies. Three copies of original passport size photograph are required on arrival. Visa fee is Us$ 20 and Us$ 10 as a tourism development must be paid on arrival. Visa can be further extended with an additional fee of Us$ 15. We can arrange visa.

Entry Procedure for Bhutan
Tourists visiting Bhutan must travel through an authorized local tour operator on a pre-planned, pre-paid, guided package tour. Independent travel is not permitted. The government stipulates an all-inclusive entry fee per day. Concerned local tour operator is responsible for all logistical arrangements during your stay in Bhutan.

The best way to enter Bhutan is by Druk Air, the only national air carrier. Following stations are connected with Druk Air flight :
From India: Delhi & Calcutta
From Nepal : Kathmandu
From Thailand: Bangkok
Druk Air is the only Airline operating in Bhutan.

BY LAND

Entry or exit is also possible through Phuntsoling, the southern Bhutanese border town. From here the nearest airport is Bagdogra in West Bengal (India). For travelers wishing to visit Indian states of Sikkim, West Bengal along with Bhutan, Phuntsholing serves as the convenient point.

Exit from Bhutan can be also made through Samdrup Jongkhar, an important link for visiting further Northeastern states of India.

AS PER GOVERNMENT RULE IT IS MANDATORY TO TRAVEL AT LEAST ONE WAY BY DRUK AIR, IT CAN BE EITHER ENTRY OR EXIT OR BOTH.
